The Magic Isn’t in the Plan

Kona race start

You need a plan to reach your potential. But it doesn’t need to be complicated.

I’ve watched athletes spend years hunting for the perfect sessions and the perfect zones. Meanwhile, some of the most successful athletes I’ve coached followed remarkably simple programmes. Not because we couldn’t make them more complex, but because there was no need.

Once you have a sensible plan, your job is straightforward:

  • Show up.

  • Give the best effort available that day.

  • Then get on with your life and forget about training until the next session.

Some days you’ll feel fantastic, some days ordinary. That’s normal. You don’t need to analyse every workout to death.

The best plan in the world is worthless if you can’t follow it consistently. A simple plan, executed for months and years, can produce extraordinary results.

The magic isn’t in the complexity. It’s in the consistency.

Stop looking for clues. The answer is probably already in your training plan.

You just have to keep showing up.
